Contralto Lisa Marie Gerstenkorn is a versatile vocalist and teacher currently based in the Kansas City area.
From 2020-2024 Lisa served as the full-time Alto Principal Vocal Artist with the non-profit vocal music production company Heartland Sings, performing and teaching in Fort Wayne, IN.
There she performed the role of The Mother in Stephen Paulus' The Three Hermits, and the Alto solos for Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Mozart's Requiem, and Handel's Messiah. She also performed as a featured soloist for An Evening With Cole Porter and The Sondheim Cafe.
For three summer seasons, she performed on the outdoor "ART-V" stage for Heartland Sings' Mobile Concert Series singing country and pop music of Adele, Shania Twain, Tanya Tucker, Bonnie Raitt, Taylor Swift, Queen, Rolling Stones, in addition to many eras of musical theatre selections.
In 2021, Lisa premiered the role of Louise Thaden, record-breaking female aviator, in Lisa DeSpain and Rachel Peters' Staggerwing with Opera Kansas.
Lisa has enjoyed performances as a solo artist with the Tulsa Opera, Opera Kansas, Heartland Opera Theatre, Landlocked Opera, Inc., Lawrence Opera Theatre, Music on Site, Inc., Oregon Bach Festival, Southeast Kansas Symphony, and Bartlesville Choral Society. She traveled to Spain and Portugal with the American Opera Studio in the Summer 2019.
She performed as a Resident Artist with the Tulsa Opera, Ohio Light Opera, and the College Light Opera Company. Lisa has also enjoyed Early Music performances with Amherst Early Music Festival, Haymarket Opera, Halifax Summer Opera, and the Baroque Opera Workshop in Queens, New York.
Ms. Gerstenkorn is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and a member of the music fraternity Pi Kappa Lambda. She taught Voice and Applied Diction as a part-time Lecturer at Pittsburg State University for fifteen years, and Voice at Missouri Southern State University for almost seven years, in addition to maintaining a full Private Voice Studio in Southeast Kansas and surrounding areas.
